June 2008 - Visit an adoption agency for the first time to consider starting the process. We are told we need to be married for one year (One year would be in September) so we can't start the process.
February 2011 - Send in application to get started on domestic adoption. We have an out of date application so they send it back with a new one to fill out.
March 2011 - Get new application and fill out.
March/April 2011 - Run around getting all documents needed for homestudy.
April 2011 - Find out we're pregnant, so put adoption stuff on hold.
July 2011 - Post D&C, start adoption process again and continue getting documents needed for homestudy.
September/October 2011 - Participate in homestudy sessions.
October 31, 2011 - Homestudy approved! The waiting begins.
December 20, 2011 - First profiling opportunity, an indirect placement for a preemie who is otherwise healthy, is offered to us. After a few months we finally hear back that that we weren't chosen. Thanks, we had figured it out.
January 17, 2012 - Second profiling opportunity, a direct placement for a baby due in May. We find out we're not chosen March 6th.
March 26, 2012 - Third profiling opportunity, a direct placement for a baby due 3 days later (3/20). We find out we're not chosen April 3rd.
April 4, 2012 - Fourth profiling opportunity, a direct placement for a baby due April 14th. Mother is heroin and meth user. We find out we're not chosen the next day, April 5th.
April 12, 2012 - Fifth profiling opportunity, a direct placement for a baby due "any day." We find out the next week the birth mom chose a couple more local to her.
June 4, 2012 - A rare Saturday profiling opportunity for a baby boy in IN already born and with a congenital heart defect. I'm in the middle of stims for my surrogacy cycle and can't leave the state. It breaks our heart, but we have to turn down for the first time.
July 2012 - Another indirect profiling that won't amount to much.
Late July - we put the adoption process on hold again as we are now pregnant.
When will it be our turn?
