Quick Whining Post

My SIL had her c-section this morning.

And used Gianna.

And used Josephine.

So I am 0 for 2 now in the names category.

I know she didn't "steal" my names, they weren't "mine" to begin with.

But the fact that they wouldn't tell us their G name when we asked burns a little bit more today than I think it would have if they had just told us when we asked.

I don't really have any other names I just *love*. Hopefully I will get there.

Here's a weird question...do you think twins with names starting with the same letter (names do not sound alike) are ok?

I don't think I do. I think it would be ok if they were sisters of two different ages, but as twins it's a little cheesy.

I have all sorts of arbitrary naming rules for myself though.

Eh, I'm just disappointed today. I'll get over it. It wasn't even 100% anyway. But you know as soon as a name you think you *might* use is taken, all of a sudden you're SURE you would have used it. It was one of those rare names we actually both agreed on.

  1. Wow what are the chances?! DId they know you liked the name Gianna?

I agree with you about the same letter for twins. Kinda like how people dress their kids the same. Very cheesy but hell after what you've been through I say you can do whatever you want and not have to apologize for it. :)

  2. Ugh. I'm sorry. That would annoy the hell out of me if my sister did that (which, by the way, she just very well may).

I think naming twins with names that start with the same letter is a little cheesy, but you know what? Who cares? If it's a name you love, just go for it. OR you can be really bold and still use the name Gianna. That would show them!

  3. I agree, what are the chances! Ugh. I agree, did they know about that name preference? Eh. I'm sorry they took one of the names you were seriously considering.

Whether it's cheesy or not, I think you should do what you want :) I know that my sister and A's sister named their sons with names starting with the same letter. I personally wouldn't do that, but I don't think it's cheesy; it's just not my thing. And that's the beauty of it! Your kids = your decision! You get to do whatever you want :)

  4. I am annoyed for you.
When it comes to the same letter for names I guess to me it would depend what they are. By that I mean if you named them Jenny and Jenna- I don't think so. If you named Jenny and Jackie- a little better. But they are your babies so it doesn't matter what I think or anyone else thinks as long you're happy with them.

  6. Oh no!! How sad and what a bummer!!! When DH and I started trying we could only agree on the girl name "Lucy." Of course we got infertile and our extraordinarily fertile friends (who said they never wanted to become parents.... grrrr!!!) named their daughter Lucy and it was such a stab in the heart. Not only did they have a baby when WE were the ones that wanted it so badly, but she even had "our" baby's name! The funny thing is that as time passed we decided we didn't like that name much anyway.
It's a TOTAL bummer though because yours was a reality!!! I'm hoping you find a name that's 10X better! Blergh on them and their baby girl names... :(
And I say you can use the same letter or NOT use the same letter. Whatever names you like, go for it! :)

  7. So annoyed for you! Eeesh. I agree with what others have said. You name those babies what you want. Even if they start with or without the same letter!!!

  8. I HATE PEOPLE!!! My best friend did that to me, and I'm pretty sure hubby wouldn't have let me use it anyways but I know she knew it was my name and he stole it and said she never knew it was mine. Oh so sorry for the rant lol. We all have names we love and my hubby and I can't agree on anything so I'm not telling people my names anymore. Hang in there girl!!

  9. damn, sneaky bishes! I personally don't think its too cheesy to have same-letter-names for twins, but definitely don't make them rhyme or anything! =P

  14. There are three sets of twins in my family - Sonia & Tonia, Daisy & Daphne and Melody & Martin - they also all have middle names that match. Due to that I have a severe hate for matchy matchy twin names. However, that's me - if it's names you love then by all means go for it. It does suck that your names were stolen :(

  15. Hi, visiting from ICLW. Ugh that sucks that your names were used! I love a lot of names, but it's been hard to find ones hubby and I agree on. We have them narrowed down now, but no baby to give them too yet. It would be hard if someone else "stole" them.

  16. I'm sorry your favorite names were taken. When your dealing with infertility, even those little losses sting.

  17. That SUCKS that your names were taken!! Hubby & I have had our hearts set on one specific name for 10 years now and I'm so scared it'll be taken. I don't think there's anything wrong with naming twins starting with the same letter, if they're names you really like. I mean, if they're really alike like Liesel & Leslie (yes I actually know of twins out there named that!), well, that's just wrong IMO, but say...Katherine and Kiera, are different enough that I don't think it's cheesy.
